Aber der Reihe nach. Neulich las ich beim slatestarcodex einen Beitrag mit dem Titel: „Technological Unemployment: Much More Than You Wanted To Know<\/a>„. Scott Alexander schaut dort mal genau, inwiefern die Teilnahme an der „labour force“ mit den historisch tiefen offiziellen Arbeitslosenzahlen (in den USA) korellieren \u2026 Nun ja \u2026 \u00f8hm \u2026 mit „nicht wirklich“ versuche ich diese komplizierte Sache mal zusammen zu fassen.<\/p>\n Wer irgendwie an der Entwicklung der Beteiligung am Arbeitsmarkt so ganz generell interessiert ist, dem empfehle ich diesen Artikel unbedingt mal zu lesen. Aber um die generelle (historische) Entwicklung geht es mir gar nicht.<\/p>\n Mir geht es um die ganz spezielle Entwicklung mit allem was mit Robotern zusammen haengt. Deswegen zitiere ich im Weiteren aus besagtem Artikel, gebe aber zu, dass dies teilweise sekundaere Zitate werden und ich NICHT die Originale geprueft habe. Dies haengt u.A. damit zusammen, dass ich Scott vertraue, dass er eine ordentliche Recherche macht.<\/p>\n Dies fasst zusammen, warum ich meine Meinung bezueglich der Roboterisierung im Allgemeinen etwas modifizieren muss, im Speziellen (also mich und den jungen Menschen der bei mir wohnt (irgendwie) betreffend) aber nicht:<\/p>\n The best-paying jobs \u2013 managers, professionals, and the like \u2013 are doing fine. The lowest-paying jobs, like personal care and food, are also doing fine. It\u2019s the middle-paying jobs that are in trouble. Some of these are manufacturing, but there are also office and administrative positions in the same categories.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Zur Zeit nimmt also im Wesentlichen die Anzahl der absoluten Arbeitsplaetze nicht ab, aber Buero und administrative Aufgaben \u2026 mhmmm \u2026 das ist doch genau das was ich irgendwie mache \u2026 Mist!<\/p>\n Weiter geht es dann damit:<\/p>\n This is potentially consistent with a story where the jobs that have been easiest to automate are middle-class-ish.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Wait! What?<\/p>\n Some jobs require extremely basic human talents that machines can\u2019t yet match \u2013 like a delivery person\u2019s ability to climb stairs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Die Betonung liegt auf „yet“. Diesbezueglich ist das Problem also mglw. nicht so imminent wie ich bisher dachte, aber ewig wird es auch nicht auf sich warten lassen.<\/p>\n Others require extremely arcane human talents likewise beyond machine abilities \u2013 like a scientist discovering new theories of physics.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Da wuerde ich mich zwar gerne dazu zaehlen, aber Selbstreflektion erlaubt mir diesen Luxus nicht.<\/p>\n Und nun das Schlimme:<\/p>\n The stuff in between \u2013 proofreading, translating, records-keeping, metalworking, truck driving, welding \u2013 is more in danger. As these get automated away, workers \u2013 in accord with the theory \u2013 migrate to the unautomatable jobs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n OK? So what? Business as usual. Aber es geht noch weiter:<\/p>\n Since they might not have the skills or training to do the unautomatable upper class jobs, they end up in the unautomatable lower-class ones. There\u2019s nothing in economic orthodoxy that says this can\u2019t happen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Shit! Wie viel „kuenstilche Intelligenz“ kann ich programmieren? Oder Herzoperationen machen? Oder andere „unautomatable upper class jobs“? Bisher bin ich in „middle class jobs“ untergekommen. Aber in der Zukunft \u2026 mhmmm \u2026 da wird es dann wohl der der Autobahntoilettenreiniger. Hier nochmal etwas genauer:<\/p>\n Because jobs that are intensive in either abstract or manual tasks are generally found at opposite ends of the occupational skill spectrum\u2014in professional, managerial, and technical occupations on the one hand, and in service and laborer occupations on the other\u2014this reasoning implies that computerization of \u201croutine\u201d job tasks may lead to the simultaneous growth of high-education, high-wage jobs at one end and low-education, low-wage jobs at the other end, both at the expense of middle-wage, middle education jobs\u2014a phenomenon [\u2026] called \u201cjob polarization.\u201d A large body of US and international evidence confirms the presence of employment polarization at the level of industries, localities, and national labor markets [\u2026]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Und dann schreibt Scott so richtig:<\/p>\n As far as I know, there is no economic theory stating that the number (or percent) of high-skilled jobs must always stay the same<\/strong>. An optimist might argue that things will get better as today\u2019s obsoletely-trained workforce retires and tomorrow\u2019s trained-for-the-appropriate-jobs workforce graduates [\u2026] a race between two competing forces<\/strong>; generational churn producing students with the right set of skills, and technology making new skills obsolete.<\/strong> [\u2026]\u00a0 [I]t seems like \u2013 at least for the middle class \u2013 this is a race they are now losing.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Da ist das „Gefuehl“, welches ich seit einigen Jahren habe mal konkret ausgedrueckt. Egal wie sehr ich programmieren lerne, das Hamsterrad dreht sich schneller und schneller.<\/p>\n Das waere alles nicht so schlimm, denn der Mehrwert wird ja immer noch produziert und das muesste nur der ganzen Gesellschaft zugute kommen.<\/p>\n [\u2026] 93% of economists with an opinion on the issue agreed that the economic benefits of robots will be so great that they could be used to compensate the workers who were negatively effected.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Scott kommentier dann so treffend:<\/p>\n [\u2026] [I]n a survey I conducted in my imagination, 100% of people who have not been living in a cave the past two hundred years agreed that this will never happen in real life<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Tjaaaa \u2026 Mittelklasse oder nicht Mittelklasse \u2026 die Frage stellt sich nicht so richtig, denn wer will schon darunter sein? Ich nicht. Und deswegen hoffe ich auf eine bereits so oft angesprochene Transformation der Gesellschaft, in der „Arbeit“ NICHT der Leim ist, der alles zusammen haelt.<\/p>\n In den Kommentaren findet sich dann noch dies:<\/p>\n For most of recorded history, almost every human was a subsistence farmer, likely under-using their cognitive abilities, yet no middle-paying jobs materialized to use their full potential. Then, during the first century or so of the industrial revolution, most people in industrialized countries were assembly line workers, jobs even less cognitively demanding than subsistence farming, and still no middle-paying jobs appeared until most of that low-skilled factory work could be automated. There is nothing in standard economic theory that predicts that jobs that allow average people to use their full cognitive ability should exist and pay middle-class wages. In fact, there is nothing that predicts that a middle-class should exist.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Und wenn man mal so drueber nachdenkt, dann stimmt das. Die Mittelklasse ist ein „Ding“ welches erst nach dem Ende des 2. Weltkrieges entstanden ist. Interessanterweise war das auch die Zeit, in der ernsthaft daran gearbeitet wurde Mehrwert gerechter zu verteilen. Und mir faellt kein Grund ein, warum besagte Mittelklasse nicht genauso schnell wieder verschwinden kann. Als letztes Zitat m\u00f8chte ich dann dies hier anbringen, was ein bisschen auf das „yet“ von weiter oben eingeht:<\/p>\n I don\u2019t necessarily think that most people think that technological unemployment will hit the least skilled first. It should hit the jobs where it\u2019s most profitable first. How cheap would a robotic server in a restaurant have to be to actually get a return on investment? Replacing a unionized assembly line worker makes you money a lot faster even if it\u2019s more expensive. As we get better at replacing middle cost jobs, the cost of automation should go down and that should allow us to replace the unskilled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Und wenn dann immer noch keine neue Struktur in der Gesellschaft existiert, dann wird es akut bezueglich der Frage: Wohin mit all den nutzlosen Menschen? \u2026 Aber ganz zur Not, gibt es ja immer noch Soylent<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\nUnd genau das passiert gerade ganz akut in den USA. Die haben zwar einen Job-Boom, aber fast alles nur bei Scheiszjobs die eigentlicher keiner machen will und die nur gemacht werden, weil die Leute nicht verhungern wollen.<\/p>\n
\nUnd da war wieder das Dumme an der ganzen Sache: Mittelklasse, das bin ICH \u2026 und du auch liebe Leserin und lieber Leser.<\/p>\n
