Zum neulich vorgestellten<\/a> Artikel ueber Bullshit-Jobs gibt es ein „Follow-Up“<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ich komme nicht drumherum auch hier wieder umfangreich zu zitieren (saemtliche Hervorhebungen von mir).
\nLos geht es mit einer berechtigten Feststellung:<\/p>\n

Die uebliche Erklaerung: dazu \u2026<\/p>\n

[\u2026] is always consumerism. [\u2026] given the choice between four-hour days, and nine or ten-hour days with SUVs, iPhones and eight varieties of designer sushi, we all collectively decided free time wasn\u2019t really worth it.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Oberflaechlich betrachtet wuerde ich damit erstmal mitgehen. Das seh ich teilweise an mir, und in meinem Arbeitsumfeld. Racken um in Urlaub fahren zu k\u00f8nnen.<\/p>\n

Scheint ja auch erstmal logisch. Und ist weniger erschreckend und die eigenen Dogmen in Frage stellend als die Erklaerungen weiter unten. Nur sind Letztere deutlich plausiber, da diese aus Beobachtungen folgen und nicht nur aus „so ’nem Bauchgefuehl“.<\/p>\n

Aber zunaechst ein kurzer Abstecher in die Geschichte.<\/p>\n

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, one of the great divisions between anarcho-syndicalist unions, and socialist unions, was that the latter were always asking for higher wages, and the anarchists were asking for less hours.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wie passend und eine Erklaerung mehr, warum ich Anarchist (im kropotkinschen Sinne) und nicht Sozialist bin \u2026 Tihihi.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why the anarchists were so entangled in struggles for the eight-hour day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Siehe dazu bspw. wie es zum 1. Mai als weltweiten Feiertag<\/a> kam.<\/p>\n

Und dann kommt der Knackpunkt:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s as if the socialists were essentially buying into the notion that work is a virtue, and consumerism is good, but it should all be managed democratically [\u2026]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dazu dann weiter unten mehr. Nur kurz noch die Gegenmeinung dazu (weil ich’s so sch\u00f8n finde und weil es meiner eigenen Weltanschuung so sehr entspicht):<\/p>\n

Da dies geklaert ist, kann ich mich nun zur Verbindung zum Titel dieses Beitrages vorarbeiten.<\/p>\n

It was generally the classic anarchist constituencies\u2014recently proletarianized peasants and craftsmen\u2014who rose up and made the great revolutions, whether in Russia or China or for that matter Algeria or Spain\u2014but they always ended up with regimes run by socialists who accepted that labor was a virtue in itself and the purpose of labor was to create a consumer utopia.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Aber wie es um die Realisierung dieses Versprechens stand, hat ja de Geschichte gezeigt.<\/p>\n

Of course they were completely incapable of providing such a consumer utopia. But what social benefit did they actually provide? [\u2026] You couldn\u2019t really get fired from your job. As a result you didn\u2019t really have to work very hard. So on paper they had eight- or nine-hour days but really everyone was working maybe four or five.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Das deckt sich mit so einigen Geschichten, die ich aus der DDR h\u00f8rte. Wobei ich das natuerlich als grundsaetzlich positiv ansehe. Und wehe da kommt mir jetzt einer damit, dass das ja der Grund dafuer war, dass „der Kommunismus untergegangen ist“. Nachgeplappere kann ich auch woanders h\u00f8ren.
\nOder anders:<\/p>\n

You get up. You buy the paper. You go to work. You read the paper. Then maybe a little work, and a long lunch, including a visit to the public bath…<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Und dann kommt etwas ganz Wichtiges zum drueber Nachdenken. Etwas was diametral entgegengestzt ist zu dem, was uns so eingetrichtert wurde und wird.<\/p>\n

\n

If you think about it in that light, it makes the achievements of the socialist bloc seem pretty impressive<\/b>: a country like Russia managed to go from a backwater to a major world power with everyone working maybe on average four or five hours a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Dies fuehrte aber ein Problem mit sich, denn \u2026<\/p>\n

\n

[\u2026] they couldn\u2019t take credit for it.<\/span> They had to pretend [!] it was a problem<\/b>, [\u2026] because of course work was considered the ultimate moral virtue.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Und hier nun die Erklaerung, warum wir keine 15-Stunden-Wochen haben:<\/p>\n

\n

[\u2026] <\/span>this ideological imperative to validate work as virtue in itself <\/b>[\u2026] <\/span>is constantly being reinforced by the larger society.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So eine verfluchte Scheisze nochmal!!!<\/span>
\nWeil mich das so sehr aufregt, werde ich dazu sicherlich noch \u00f8fter mal was schreiben.<\/p>\n

Und auch das Folgende fuehlt sich dummerweise viel zu bekannt an. Tief drin, irgendwo auf dem Niveau der unbewussten Sozialisation.<\/p>\n

\n

[\u2026] to validate work on some level, [\u2026] work is a value in itself. It creates discipline, maturity, or some such, and anyone who doesn\u2019t work most of the time at something they don\u2019t enjoy is a bad person, lazy, dangerous, parasitical.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Vielleicht doch nicht so „tief drin“. Da muss man sich ja nur mal unter Akademikern mit gutem Einkommen umh\u00f8ren, was die i.A. zu Menschen meinen, die weniger Glueck hatten als sie selbst. Oder in die Zeitung schauen.<\/p>\n

Dies zum eigentlichen Problem „Arbeit“ und warum wir keine 15-Stunden-Woche haben.<\/p>\n

Was nun? Im Bezug auf Bullshit-Jobs und dass Menschen, die wirklich Nuetzliches fuer die Gesellschaft tun schlechter bezahlt werden schlaegt der Autor vor:<\/p>\n

\n

[\u2026] we need to attack the core of the problem, which is that we have an economic system that, by its very nature, will always reward people who make other people\u2019s lives worse and punish those who make them better.[\u2026] <\/span>A labor movement that<\/b> manages to finally <\/span>ditch all traces of the ideology that says that work is a value in itself<\/b>, but rather redefines labor as caring for other people.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Und dann zum Abschluss:<\/p>\n

\n

[\u2026] we need to start by redefining labor itself, maybe, start with classic \u201cwomen\u2019s work,\u201d nurturing children, looking after things, as the paradigm for labor itself and then it will be much harder to be confused about what\u2019s really valuable and what isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Und somit ist dann auch eine Verbindung zu einem anderen, hier immer wiederkehrenden Thema<\/a> gemacht.<\/p>\n

Die Menschheit war so flink und hat es wirklich geschafft sich das Leben massiv zu erleichtern. Genau deswegen brauchen wir neue Dogmen \u2026 denn die alten funktionieren nicht mehr.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
